Safety Guidelines and Weather Issues

Coaches must bring each player’s registration form to each game as it has the parent’s authorization for emergency medical treatment on it.

Coaches should have parents complete the Emergency Medical Authorization and Health Information Form for you to keep at all practices and games.

According to our liability policy and the Rules of SAY, players may not wear jewelry of any kind.  Taping over earrings is not acceptable.  They must be removed.  Please, convey these rules to your players upon your first contact with them.

Shin-guards must be worn and worn under the socks.

If it rains, teams are to report to the field.  A determination to play will be made there.  The game will be forfeited if a team does not show.  For Wings, Strikers, Kickers, and Minors/Seniors the assigned referees will determine if the game is to be played.  For Passers the coaches or the Division Coordinator will determine if the game is to be played, if an adult referee is not assigned to the game.  On rare occasions the Division Coordinator may cancel a game prior to the scheduled start.  When this happens, the respective coaches will be notified as soon as possible.

The above holds true if it begins to rain after a game has already started.  Play will usually continue in the rain unless lightning is sighted.  The referees are to stop any game immediately upon the first sound of thunder or sight of lightning no matter how far away the storm seems to be.  Teams are to go to their cars for shelter and wait for a minimum of 20 minutes at which time the referees will determine if the game will be resumed.  The game is considered complete if play cannot be restarted any time after the first half.  The game will be rescheduled if play cannot resume, and the first half was not completed.

SAY “Lightning Policy” & TCYS Weather-Related Procedures
